Jerry West SEO Quick Tip: When looking for sites to get links from, don’t look at the PageRank as the only indicator. Look at the Alexa ranking as well. Sites in the top 100,000 in Alexa generally have good solid PageRank and are well indexed.

A year ago, I got a link from a site that had a PR0, but the Alexa ranking was in the 60,000 range. Today, they are a PR7 and their Alexa ranking is now in the 40,000 range.

Remember: Getting links isn’t just about increasing your PageRank. It is also about getting traffic to your site. If the site is quality, get the link. The site may grow … and you will benefit.

Right, most people look directly at the Page Rank of the website when they are looking for sites to have link exchange to. This was also my concern before, everytime I look for links I should make sure that it has a PR3 and above but that idea changes when I found out that Page Rank didn’t really help a lot with my study on my 3 years of SEO. What you really need is a good site to link to, i.e. good content, not a link farm, good alexa ranking, good keyword choice and properly place Meta Tags.

But everything will change… search engines keeps on changing their algorithm without notice, so we should be on the alert and never ending study and experiments is needed for you to keep updated on Search Engine Optimization.
