Check this PDF file, SEO On-Page Factors. A Comprehensive SEO On-Page Factoring Guide from Marketing now. I hope this helps on your SEO journey. (Sorry, I deleted the PDF link, because someone said I don’t have the rights to publish it here. Just message me if you want the copy of SEO On-Page Factors.)
SEO is generally known as two components: On-Page and Off-Page Factors. Google, the world’s #1 search engine, is generally known as an Off-Page Factor search engine. Because of this, many SEOs and webmasters have started to ignore the On-Page Factors, citing that they are no longer important.

Check List for On-Page SEO

  1. Validate your HTML code so it is “spider” compliant.
  2. File Naming. Make sure you use hyphens instead of underscores. Why? blue-widget.html = blue widget (good) blue_widget.html = bluewidget (not good).
  3. Text link navigation at the bottom of the page.
  4. Is your character set tag correct and is it the first tag after <html>?
  5. The Title Tag should be compelling and focused.
  6. Your description tag needs to work hand-in-hand with the Title to get the searcher to “click” on the listing.
  7. Every page should have a unique Title & Description.
  8. Don’t use your “money phrases” in the keyword meta tag.
  9. Are you using the correct DTD statement?
  10. JavaScript should be referenced as an external file.
  11. CSS should be referenced as an external file.
  12. Are you using a heading tag and is it compelling?
  13. Do your main graphics use the ALT tag properly?
  14. Place your keyword phrase in the following areas:
    • a) Title Tag
    • b) Meta Description
    • c) H1 tag to begin the content
    • d) First paragraph of content
    • e) Appearing in Bold or Italic in the first three paragraphs of
      content
    • f) Appearing in the filename (with hyphens not underscores)
    • g) Used in anchor text to either an internal page or relevant
      external site.
  15. Check for bad links. Xenu or Dead Links.
  16. Fix bad links and create XML Sitemap and submit to Google.
